Program Improvement

  • In July 2010, the State Board of Education identified the "corrective actions" for Districts in year three of Program Improvement. Covina-Valley has been identified as a district in need of "moderate" sanctions so we have been assigned "Corrective Action #6" (adoption of the most recent standards-aligned textbooks) along with a District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT). The team will conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and make recommendations to the district's Local Education Agency Plan.

Supplemental Education Services (SES)

  • Supplemental Educational Services (SES) designed to help eligible students increase their academic achievement and meet the state's grade-level standards, are available from approved providers other than the school.

A state wide list of Supplemental Educational Services (SES) providers may be found on the California Department of Education web site.

Only students who qualify for free and reduced price lunch are eligible for SES. Priority will be given to students based on educational need. The lowest-achieving eligible students will receive services first if demand exceeds funds available. The number of students served by this program is determined by the amount of NCLB funds available for this purpose.
