State Schools Chief Torlakson Congratulates High-Performing Middle Schools Selected as 'Schools to Watch'
SACRAMENTO—State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson has announced that 22 new high-performing California middle schools have been recognized in the 2017–18 Schools to Watch-Taking Center Stage program. They join 24 previously chosen schools whose sustained progress will allow them to retain their “Schools to Watch” designation.
"Congratulations to these schools for doing excellent work to help students believe in themselves, set high goals, and dream big," Torlakson said. "These schools are outstanding examples of how educational innovations can keep students engaged and learning throughout a transitional time in their lives."

Our school-wide instructional focus is writing across the curriculum. Our goal is that all Traweek Middle School students show measurable growth in their ability to write and respond in all disciplines through an agreed upon set of common teaching practices.

Titan Femineers Program Update:
Traweek is one of 10 Middle Schools that participate in the Femineers Program. Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering created this program to inspire girls to pursue STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) in their school-aged years and future careers. This after-school and weekend program provides 6th, 7th, & 8th-grade girls the opportunity to make connections with female mentors and college counseling while building a sustainable community of current and future female STEAM leaders. The Femineers group from Traweek will create wearable technology projects and build creative robots that are placed on display during the Cal Poly Pomona’s Femineers’ Showcase in the spring. For more information about applying for the Femineers program during 2018-2019, please contact Mr. Myers or Ms. Warschaw. Go Titans!
