Dr. April Leon

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Workman Elementary School.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of family and student achievement! My most recent administrative experience was at South Hills High School where I served as an Assistant Principal.  I am eager to begin building relationships and to work with you as a partner to ensure your child's success.

I’m excited to spend time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large and I will encourage them every day so that they know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.  We will focus on character education, coding, Common Core State Standards, and creating a safe environment that is conducive to learning. Our staff will use data to drive instruction and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that we can continue to increase student achievement for all.
This year is guaranteed to be filled with learning and growth for each and every student. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here! This attitude will enable us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.
Please feel free to call or email me throughout the school year to share any successes or to discuss any concerns you might have. I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student at Workman Elementary meet their goals and have a successful school year!

April Leon, Ed.D.
