Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tanya Martin
Greetings parents and families of Ben Lomond Elementary School,
My name is Tanya Martin and I am extremely proud to be the principal at Ben Lomond Elementary School. I am passionate about education and look forward to partnering with you to provide students with a rigorous, engaging and high-quality experience. I am honored to work with a faculty and staff who have such rich traditions of educating our students and developing the whole child.
Before joining the Ben Lomond staff I spent 24 years serving in the Covina-Valley schools. I’ve served as a teacher, a coach, an Athletic Director, an Activities Director and, most recently, as an Assistant Principal at Traweek Middle School. My leadership and administrative experiences have been invaluable in preparing me to support our students and faculty. My philosophy: I believe that every child is a unique individual with boundless abilities. I believe our purpose, as educators, is to nurture academic excellence and a desire to be lifelong learners through a holistic approach; to nurture children to embody the Four Cs: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration and Critical Thinking. One of the most important aspects of my work will be building strong relationships with students, teachers, and families. Together we will make an indelible impact.
Parental support and involvement are a vital part of each child’s educational journey.
I encourage parents, family members and the community to partner with us to ensure that each child’s social, emotional and academic needs are met. Opportunities for parent involvement include but are not limited to: PTA, School Site Council (SSC), the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), volunteerism, school fundraisers and the Book Fair. Join us.
I am looking forward to meeting each of you as we start the new school year. My door is always open.
Principal, Ben Lomond Elementary
