Principal's Message

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Page Christensen

Hello Families and Friends! We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year!  Last year was not the type of year we envisioned but your flexibility was greatly admired!   Rowland Avenue is an inviting place to be and an inspiring campus to learn.  We are a Gold Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School.  We received the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award and CBEE Award.  We were nationally recognized by the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation which allowed us to loan instruments to our fourth and fifth-grade students for band. We were honored to receive the Golden Bell Award for parent involvement. We attribute these honors to the dedication of teachers, staff, and family members. Everyone works together to create an amazing school community.

Rowland is grateful for the continued generosity of Dr. Bakken who has pledged bicycles every month!  Students who pass a quiz with 100% are eligible to win a bicycle!  Thank you, Dr. Bakken!

Our PTA is an incredible organization.  They take part in summer meetings to plan upcoming events and work all school year long. Our PTA support and fundraising contributions make it possible for field trips, extra library hours, and many family events.  I am happy to say we had 100% PTA participation last year and it is our goal once again!  Be watching for the ways to join this fantastic organization.  Please consider helping at one of our events.  Our students truly love to see their parents involved and we appreciate your time and support!

We will be happy to help you find an area in which you can help!

Our goal at Rowland is for continuous improvement. We provide a environment conducive to learning. We encourage and expect academic excellence and personal success. We commit ourselves to helping our students find balance in every aspect of their school experience. We challenge our students to make academic growth through standards based instruction of the California Standards. We provide opportunities for our students to think critically and creatively. We help students learn complex thinking skills using traditional methods and the integration of technology. We also expect personal growth as students interact with peers and learn to communicate. As our students advance academically, we also strive to convey the message to be responsible, respectful, safe, and kind.

We are dedicated to the success of every student and we look forward to making many school memories together!
