New California School Dashboard for Covina-Valley USD
The California School Dashboard provides parents and educators with meaningful information on school and district progress so they can participate in decisions to improve student learning. Designed to go beyond test scores, the CA Dashboard provides parents and educators with a comprehensive view of school performance.
What Does the Dashboard Measure?
The Dashboard includes both statewide measures and local measures:
- Statewide Measures track key areas like chronic absenteeism, graduation rates, suspension rates, English learner progress, and academic performance in English language arts, math, and science.
- Local Measures, reported by districts, focus on clean and safe facilities, school climate, parent and family engagement, implementation of state standards, and access to a broad course of study.

School Accountability Report Card
The School Accountability Report Card (SARC) is a valuable resource for parents and the community, offering insights into our school’s performance and environment. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators.
Updated annually and published by February 1, the SARC provides key information about our schools, including:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning
- Academic performance
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff details
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation
- Fiscal and expenditure data

School Plans for Student Achievement
Our district is dedicated to ensuring all students have access to high-quality education and the support they need to succeed. As part of this commitment, each school within the district develops a School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
The SPSA is a vital tool for improving student outcomes. Schools participating in state and federally funded programs and other selected initiatives create this plan with the guidance of their School Site Council—a team of school staff, parents, and community members.
The SPSA identifies specific goals for student achievement, outlines strategies to reach those goals, allocates resources to support the plan, and includes methods for evaluating its effectiveness. The plan is regularly reviewed and updated based on ongoing data analysis to ensure it remains aligned with current student needs.
