Jonathan Blackmore, Ed.D.

The Covina-Valley Unified School District Board of Education appointed longtime educator and district leader Dr. Jonathan Blackmore as Interim Superintendent for the 2025–26 school year.

Dr. Blackmore brings more than 31 years of experience in education and over a decade of dedicated service to Covina-Valley Unified. He is widely recognized for his expertise, collaborative leadership, and steadfast commitment to student achievement, family engagement, and organizational excellence.

Since joining C-VUSD, Dr. Blackmore has served in a variety of key leadership roles, including Director of Communications, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Director of 21st Century Learning and Special Projects, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction. His leadership has been central to advancing innovative instructional programs, strengthening district-wide systems, and elevating student voice and opportunity.

Prior to his tenure in Covina-Valley Unified, Dr. Blackmore served as a high school principal, assistant principal, counselor, and English teacher, gaining extensive experience across multiple facets of education and building a strong foundation in instructional leadership, student support, and school culture.
 

Throughout his career, Dr. Blackmore has been a consistent advocate for expanding academic programs, fostering strong school–community partnerships, and supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. His dedication and vision have earned recognition at the local, regional, and state levels. Among his many honors are being named the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) State Technology Administrator of the Year, C-VUSD Outstanding Administrator, and the recipient of multiple ACSA Region Leadership Awards.
