I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new principal, Terry Abernathy. With 27 years of experience in education, including 12 years as a high school principal, I am excited to be a Husky at South Hills High School.
At South Hills High School, we hold a rich tradition of academic excellence, community involvement, and building lasting relationships to ensure success. Our shared journey is about to be set ablaze with our theme, Ignite ALL, designed to spark passion, creativity, and innovation among us all.
One of our foremost priorities is to nurture school spirit and pride. Believing in the strength of community and school spirit, we aim to forge a positive and supportive learning environment. Together, as a united team of students, parents, and staff, we will foster a culture that radiates pride and embodies the essence of Ignite ALL.
As we move forward, our collective goal is to uphold high academic standards and expectations for each student. By equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need, we will pave the way for their success in future endeavors in college and career. Furthermore, our focus will encompass robust athletics, Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), and comprehensive social-emotional support for our students. This holistic approach is vital in shaping students who are prepared for the journey of life.
Our strength lies in forging lasting relationships with our students, parents, and the community. Collaboratively, we will shape a welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
