In an effort to help students in California prepare to meet the Common Core Standards, the California Department of Education recently announced that it has joined the national Partnership for 21st Century Skills(P21). This network that includes 18 states, is committed to teaching specific skills designed to ensure readiness for every student to meet the needs of the 21st century and to secure the educational components needed in our global economy.
The core of P21 lies in the integration of the “4Cs”:
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Creativity and innovation
P21, a national organization based in Washington, D.C., supports the implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) within its framework, working to provide today’s students with the abilities and knowledge needed for college and post educational careers. Working in unison, P21 and CCSS will prepare students for success in the real world.
