  • This class will provide students with step-by-step guidance on completing each stage in the accounting cycle, while providing students with a simplified understanding of the accounting concepts. Students will concentrate on journal entries & T-accounts, financial statements & closing entries, computerized systems, cash & payroll, and finally analyzing financial statements.

Excel For Accounting

  • Students will learn how to navigate through Microsoft Excel, while at the same time be introduced to the world of accounting. Having prior accounting knowledge is not required. This class will provide students with a blend of accounting principles and a detailed step-by-step instruction on how to format worksheets, use formulas and functions and create charts in Excel. Students will concentrate on the accounting equation, recording journal entries, creating financial statements and work with formulas to create a statement of cash flows. Students will also learn to use features and commands in Excel, such as data bars, PivotTables & data functions, to examine an inventory listing, calculate inventory costs and create a bank reconciliation, calculate a depreciation schedule, and a complete payroll register.

  • Completion of Excel for Accounting is recommended, but not required. Students will continue to explore a variety of Excel features, functions and commands related to accounting. This class  concentrates on a detailed step-by-step instruction on bond amortization, protecting workbooks, using macros, financial statement analysis, creating various charts in Excel, and budgeting & cost analysis, by using flexible worksheet views & Data Analysis Tools.

Bookkeeper Part 1

  • Limited enrollment. This class concentrates on Accounting Principles taught manually, as well as computer-assisted bookkeeping methods using software to record and process transactions for Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Statements. A Certificate of Completion for Accounting Principles, Sage 50 (Peachtree), and QuickBooks can be earned by completing Bookkeeping Part 1 and Bookkeeping Part 2. Completion of coursework takes two terms. (108 hours)

  • Limited enrollment. Must have completed Bookkeeper Part 1. This class concentrates on application of technology, such as Sage 50 (Peachtree) and Intuit QuickBooks 20-21. A Certificate of Completion for Accounting Principles, Sage 50 (Peachtree), and QuickBooks can be earned by completing Bookkeeper Part 1 and Bookkeeper Part 2. Also, upon completion of the program you will be eligible to obtain five (5) college credits through our Articulation Agreement with Mt. San Antonio College.
